NEW DELHI — Maruti Suzuki is accelerating its electrification roadmap with plans to introduce a dedicated three-row electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), internally codenamed YMC. Positioned to serve India’s growing demand for zero-emission family transport, the all-electric people mover is slated for an official unveiling in late 2026, followed by a showroom rollout with an expected price bracket of ₹14.00 lakh to ₹18.00 lakh (ex-showroom).
The upcoming YMC MPV is built on the Heartect-e skateboard platform, co-developed with Toyota and shared with Maruti Suzuki’s maiden electric SUV, the e-Vitara.
By adopting a skateboard-style EV architecture, the vehicle eliminates the traditional transmission tunnel, allowing engineers to maximize interior floor flatness and legroom across all three rows. The layout will feature dedicated seating configurations designed for urban commutes as well as long-distance intercity family travel.
The YMC is expected to mirror the powertrain configurations seen on its platform sibling:
Battery Options: Available in 49 kWh and 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack variants.
Electric Motor Output: Single front-axle electric motor delivering roughly 142 hp to 172 hp depending on the selected battery pack.
Driving Range: Estimated single-charge driving range spanning 400 km to over 500 km, supported by DC fast-charging capabilities to minimize downtime during highway journeys.
Maruti Suzuki aims to position the YMC as a modern, technology-focused cabin for larger households:
In-Cabin Tech: A dual-screen digital cockpit comprising a digital driver's display and a high-definition touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Comfort & Utility: Multi-zone air conditioning with dedicated vents for second- and third-row occupants, modular flat-folding rear seats, multiple high-wattage USB-C charging points, and flexible boot storage.
Safety Suite: Standard six airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), a 360-degree camera system, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) on top-tier trims.
Upon arrival, the Maruti Suzuki YMC will occupy a distinct space in India’s electric vehicle sector. While the majority of early electric launches have targeted the compact and midsize SUV segments, mass-market electric MPVs have remained largely untapped. With an expected competitive pricing band under ₹20 lakh, the YMC will provide an electric alternative to traditional petrol and CNG movers, expanding Maruti Suzuki's reach across both personal family buyers and fleet operators.
