The rugged SUV segment in India is seeing a major shift this month. Mahindra & Mahindra has officially announced a price revision across its internal combustion engine (ICE) lineup, effective April 6, 2026.
Due to rising input costs and commodity prices, Mahindra has implemented a price hike of up to 2.5%.
| Variant | Estimated Old Price (Ex-Showroom) | Estimated New Price (April 2026) |
| Base Model (MX1) | ₹ 12.39 Lakh | ₹ 12.59 Lakh |
| Mid Variants | ₹ 16.00 Lakh | ₹ 16.35 Lakh |
| Top-End (AX7 L) | ₹ 22.25 Lakh | ₹ 22.61 Lakh |
Earlier this year, Mahindra launched the Thar Roxx Star Edition, which has quickly become a fan favorite for those who want a "sinister" factory-built look.
Starting Price: ₹ 16.85 Lakh (Ex-showroom).
Exclusive Aesthetics: Features a contrasting black grille, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a unique "Star Edition" badge.
The "Citrine Yellow" Pop: A new vibrant color option that makes the SUV stand out on and off the road.
Interior Upgrade: Finally, the cabin gets Black Leatherette upholstery with suede accents—a massive relief for off-roaders who found the original white interior difficult to maintain.
The 2026 Thar Roxx continues to offer powerhouse performance with two main engine options:
2.0L mStallion Turbo-Petrol: Delivering 177 PS and 380 Nm of torque.
2.2L mHawk Diesel: Delivering up to 175 PS and 400 Nm of torque.
Transmission: Choose between a 6-speed manual or a smooth 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Drivetrain: Available in both RWD (Rear-Wheel Drive) and the legendary 4x4 system with terrain modes.
Despite the price hike, the Thar Roxx offers a feature list that rivals premium luxury SUVs. High-end variants come equipped with:
Level 2 ADAS for enhanced safety.
Panoramic Sunroof (a first in this segment).
Twin 10.25-inch Screens (Infotainment & Digital Cluster).
Harman Kardon 9-Speaker System for an immersive audio experience.
Ventilated Front Seats to tackle the Indian summer.
As of April 2026, the Thar Roxx faces stiff competition from the newly updated MG Majestor (launching April 20) and the classic Force Gurkha 5-door. However, with its blend of lifestyle appeal and hardcore off-roading DNA, the Roxx remains the "Big Daddy" of the segment.
