The Indian automotive landscape is bracing for a seismic shift in the premium SUV segment. JSW MG Motor India is set to officially launch its new flagship, the MG Majestor, on April 16, 2026. Positioned as a "D+ segment" behemoth, the Majestor is designed to challenge the long-standing dominance of the Toyota Fortuner with a blend of brute force and high-tech luxury.
With an expected price range of ₹40 – ₹46 Lakh, here is everything you need to know about this upcoming "Fortuner Killer."
The MG Majestor isn't just big; it's designed to be the largest in its class. Measuring over 5 meters in length and sitting on a massive 2,950mm wheelbase, it claims the title of the longest, widest, and tallest SUV in its segment.
Front Fascia: Features a massive "Mosaic Matrix" gloss-black grille.
Lighting: "Dragon Eye" vertical DRLs and Tri-Beam LED projector headlamps.
Rear: A modern connected LED light bar spans the tailgate with bold "MAJESTOR" lettering.
Wheels: New 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that fill the flared arches perfectly.
Under the hood, the Majestor carries a refined version of MG’s 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine. It’s built for those who need towing power and highway munching capabilities.
| Feature | Specification |
| Engine | 2.0L Twin-Turbo Diesel |
| Max Power | 215 PS (approx. 213 bhp) |
| Peak Torque | 478 Nm |
| Transmission | 8-Speed Automatic (Torque Converter) |
| Drive Type | 2WD / 4WD with Triple Differential Locks |
For off-road enthusiasts, the Majestor is a beast. It boasts an 810mm water-wading depth and 10 specialized off-road modes (including Sand, Snow, Rock, and Mud), supported by a segment-first triple differential lock system.
Inside, MG has pivoted from the Gloster's elegance to a more "tough-luxury" vibe with a Smoked Ebony (all-black) interior theme.
Dual 12.3-inch Screens: One for the digital driver display and a freestanding unit for infotainment.
Luxury Seating: Available in 6-seater (Captain Seats) and 7-seater configurations. Front seats feature 12-way power adjustment, ventilation, and 8-mode massage functions.
Audio: A premium 12-speaker JBL Studio sound system (Savvy trim).
Safety: Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), 6 airbags as standard, and a 360-degree camera.
Bookings are already open for a token amount of ₹41,000. The Majestor will primarily be offered in two trims:
Sharp: The entry-level luxury trim, focusing on essential tech and 2WD/4WD options.
Savvy: The fully-loaded flagship featuring ADAS, massaging seats, and the JBL audio system.
Expected Price: ₹40.00 Lakh – ₹46.00 Lakh (Ex-Showroom)
Launch Date: April 16, 2026
Deliveries Begin: May 2026
The MG Majestor is a clear statement of intent. By offering more size, more features, and a sophisticated 4x4 system at a price point that undercuts the top-spec Fortuner Legender, MG is aiming for the throne. If you are in the market for a full-size SUV that feels like a private lounge on wheels but can still crawl through a riverbed, April 16 is the date to watch.
