As of March 2026, the buzz around the BMW F 450 GS has reached a fever pitch. Positioned as the spiritual successor to the G 310 GS, this mid-capacity adventurer is designed to bridge the gap between entry-level singles and the heavy-hitting R 1300 GS.
The F 450 GS is a "Made in India" global product, manufactured at the TVS facility in Hosur. This local production is the key reason behind its highly competitive expected pricing.
| Feature | Details |
| Expected Price | ₹4.0 - 4.5 Lakh (Ex-showroom) |
| Launch Window | Late March – April 2026 |
| Engine | 420cc Parallel-Twin, Liquid-Cooled |
| Max Power | 47.5 PS @ 8,750 rpm |
| Max Torque | 43 Nm @ 6,750 rpm |
| Kerb Weight | ~178 kg |
| Seat Height | 845 mm (Adjustable options available) |
The heart of the F 450 GS is an all-new 420cc parallel-twin engine. Unlike the single-cylinder engines found in its predecessors, this twin-cylinder setup promises smoother highway cruising and better top-end performance, with a claimed top speed of approximately 165 kmph.
One of the standout technical inclusions is the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC). This centrifugal system allows for clutchless starts and easier navigation through stop-and-go traffic, though riders can still use the manual lever for traditional control.
Borrowing heavily from the "GS Flyline," the F 450 GS looks like a scaled-down R 1300 GS. It features:
Suspension: Fully adjustable KYB upside-down (USD) front forks and a rear monoshock with 180mm of travel.
Wheels: A 19-inch front and 17-inch rear setup. While alloy wheels are standard on the base model, cross-spoke tubeless wheels are expected for the "Trophy" and "Sport" variants.
Electronics: A 6.5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, Turn-by-Turn navigation, and multiple riding modes (Rain, Road, Enduro, and Enduro Pro).
At the ₹4.0 - 4.5 Lakh price point, the BMW F 450 GS finds itself in the most competitive segment of the Indian motorcycle market.
KTM 390 Adventure: The tech-heavy veteran. While the KTM offers more electronic "toys," the BMW’s twin-cylinder refinement may give it the edge for long-distance touring.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450: The value-for-money king. The Himalayan is significantly cheaper but lacks the prestige and twin-cylinder punch of the German brand.
Honda NX500: A direct twin-cylinder rival. However, the Honda’s much higher price tag (approx. ₹6.3 Lakh) makes the BMW look like a bargain.
The BMW F 450 GS is shaping up to be the most important launch for BMW Motorrad India to date. If the pricing sticks to the ₹4.5 Lakh mark, it will likely become the go-to choice for riders who want premium branding without the "heavyweight" price or bulk of a liter-class ADV.
