GURUGRAM – 2026 facelift for its flagship SUVs, MG Motor India has officially announced the pricing for the highly anticipated diesel variants of the Hector and Hector Plus. While the initial launch late last year focused on petrol-manual and petrol-automatic options, the diesel lineup returns to cater to long-distance cruisers and torque-hungry SUV buyers.

Pricing and Trims: The Diesel Premium
The 2026 Hector Plus (7-seater) diesel range now starts at ₹16.45 lakh for the Select Pro trim, moving up to ₹19.75 lakh for the top-tier Sharp Pro variant (all prices ex-showroom).

Interestingly, MG has positioned the diesel powertrain with a significant premium—approximately ₹2.16 lakh to ₹2.46 lakh higher than its petrol-manual counterparts. This gap is attributed to the rising costs of sourcing the 2.0L Stellantis-sourced engine and meeting stricter 2026 emission norms.
| Model | Variant | Ex-Showroom Price (Approx.) |
| Hector (5-Seater) | Select Pro Diesel | ₹17.59 Lakh |
| Hector (5-Seater) | Sharp Pro Diesel | ₹19.69 Lakh |
| Hector Plus (7-Str) | Select Pro Diesel | ₹16.45 Lakh |
| Hector Plus (7-Str) | Sharp Pro Diesel | ₹19.75 Lakh |
Performance: The Familiar Workhorse
Under the hood, the 2026 models retain the tried-and-tested 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine.
Max Power: 170 hp
Peak Torque: 350 Nm
Transmission: 6-speed Manual only
Fuel Efficiency: Claimed ~15.58 km/l
Despite persistent customer demand for a diesel-automatic combination, MG continues to offer the diesel engine exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission. Those seeking an automatic experience must still opt for the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with the CVT gearbox.
2026 Refresh: What’s New?
The diesel variants benefit from the same cosmetic and functional upgrades seen across the 2026 facelift:
The "Argyle" Grille: A bolder, more muscular front fascia with heavy chrome accents.
Tech Overhaul: A massive 14-inch HD portrait touchscreen infotainment system with improved RAM for smoother performance.
Luxury Cabin: Revised interiors with wood-finish inserts and dual-tone themes (Urban Tan for the Plus).
Smart Features: Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) available in the Sharp Pro trims, along with over 75 connected car features through the i-SMART suite.
By reintroducing the diesel, MG aims to stay competitive against the Mahindra XUV 700 and Tata Safari. While the lack of a diesel automatic remains a "fixable miss," the Hector’s sheer cabin space, premium features, and now, highway-friendly diesel torque, make it a formidable choice for 2026.
